The River Bend Golf & Recreation Area is the premier cross country ski venue in Red Deer and central Alberta. This Nordic ski and biathlon facility has hosted the Alberta Winter Games in 1988 and 1998, a Canada Cup featuring a number of National team skiers, some Alberta Cup races and numerous Red Deer and Public School Loppets.
Approximately 15 kilometers of ski trails and classic tracks are set each season by River Bend staff and volunteers from the Parkland Cross Country Ski Club. This vibrant ski area is used by school groups, ski clubs, and cross country ski enthusiast of all ages and skill levels. It is also a training site for athletes that have gone on to compete at the provincial and national level.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced Nordic skier, River Bend Golf & Recreation Area provides ample space and opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the Red Deer river valley throughout the winter season. Before or after you take to the hills and dale, be sure to stop in to the Clubhouse to warm yourself by the fire and enjoy a hot beverage and snack. The Clubhouse is open daily to the general public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with bathrooms available.
Please note, if you bring your four-legged companion to join you, River Bend Golf & Recreation Area is an On-Leash only park. As a courtesy lease take a bag along for you-know-what purpose and ensure that your pooch stays off the tracks that have been set. Thank-you !
